Looks Like Luxury: Laura's Summer Closet Part II
Back for more! Part II of all the things I'm wearing, shopping, and loving for the season ahead—all at an affordable price point.
Welcome to Looks Like Luxury, a weekly (for now!) newsletter by me, Laura Jackson Nalle: Vogue Shopping alum, stylist, and consultant with a love for all things chic–and all at an affordable price point. At Vogue, it was my pleasure to oversee the majority of our wallet-friendly content, from weekly curated edits and seasonal outfit stories to trend breakouts and beyond. What started as a small fraction of our business quickly became a cornerstone of the Vogue Shopping DNA. Now don’t get me wrong, my eyes (and shopping cart!) go wild for a high-ticket, runway item as much as the rest of us, but, in my opinion, mastering the art of high-low style begins with the understanding that luxury can (and should!) exist across all price-points. And, more importantly, for the every fashion girl. At Looks Like Luxury, you can expect weekly shopping scrolls of all the things I’m wearing, shopping, and loving for the season ahead to styling tips and much more. I hope you start your shopping spree (and all of those to come!), here.
Last week, I shared with you just a handful of the pieces taking up sartorial real estate in my summer capsule wardrobe. In case you’ve forgotten, there were billowy blouses from Dôen and Posse, ultra-mini shorts from Suzie Kondi and J.Crew, jelly flats from Ancient Greek Sandals and Gap, the list goes on. Given that I am a personal shopper by trade, there is, unsurprisingly, more where that came from for today’s send.
With the official start of summer only days away (I’m talking about Memorial Day Weekend, here), my everyday rotation is adopting more of a festive, vibrant twist than ever. I’m breathing new life into my wardrobe essentials, opting for Tory Burch’s floral-detailed white tank top instead of simpler, ribbed styles—some of which, I admit, are currently gathering dust in the back of my drawers. Styling-wise, I love how Burch’s tank looks contrasted with a more casual item, such as H&M’s crochet midiskirt or a pair of fire-engine red Havaianas. I’m also playing with fun, printed pieces over my typical pared-back go-tos. My print du jour, you ask? Stripes, stripes, and more stripes! For example, I’m pairing Staud’s multi-colored striped tee boldly atop the brand’s pink-and-white striped pants. Then, I’m accessorizing with one of Chan Luu’s shell-adorned beaded necklaces—a must-have on any fashion girl’s wish-list this season.
I also have my eye (and shopping cart!) on Toteme’s LWD in a slinky cotton-jersey material, luxurious woven handbags from Sensi Studio and Dragon Diffusion, The Garment’s crochet mini dress that doubles as both a chic city staple and beachside cover-up, Tony Bianco’s suede penny loafers in chocolate brown that are true seasonless stars, just to name a few. Below, the 40 under-$300 It items I’m wearing, shopping, and loving for the summer season ahead. Styling note: I’ve curated each row as an “outfit”, but feel free to mix and match, and most of all, have fun!
